Intro to Hockey

At HCMHA our U7 program (Birth years 2020, 2021)is built around one simple goal: FUN.

We focus on developing the FUNdamentals of hockey in a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment. Whether your child is just learning to stand on skates or already showing advanced skills, our program is designed to build confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of the game.

What Families Can Expect

  • 2 Practices per week and 1 or 2 games on the weekend

  • Games at Oilfields arena or in Okotoks

  • Team Jersey’s and Socks are yours to keep

  • Team Development Opportunities

Team Formation

In September, players participate in placement skates to help coordinators create our teams that support development and enjoyment for all players.

There are no schedule requests; players are assigned to a team.

Program Highlights

  • Emphasis on teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship

  • Optional additional tournaments (team-funded and within guidelines)

Our program thrives because of parent involvement. Each family is expected to contribute in some way — helping create the best possible experience for our kids. At the U7 level, success isn’t measured in wins and losses — it’s measured in smiles, growth, and excitement to come back to the rink.
